Decisive passage

Converse hit .526 in the fifth, recording 11 kills and only one error on 19 attempts. Wise reduced a 12–8 deficit to 12–11 through a Skye Williams kill, a Mia Poag kill and a Converse error. Ella Ruckman’s kill stopped the recovery, followed by a Wise error and a Bree Lyons kill to finish. [1]

Player impact

Poag led Wise with 15 kills. Williams added 11 kills and six aces, Annabelle Dowell ten kills, Madilyn Pardue 46 assists and Abigail Curtis 29 digs. Converse’s Ariel Bryant had 18 kills, while Ruckman and Lyons each contributed 15. Alysha Arroyo supplied 44 assists and 16 digs. [1]

Mayberry’s take

The Cavaliers demonstrated they could win tight sets, taking the second 26–24 and third 25–23. The deciding difference was not simply the margin of those earlier wins: Converse’s attack became much more efficient in the last two sets. Wise’s service scoring remained valuable, but could not fully compensate for 29 attack errors across the match. Both the middle-set resistance and late efficiency gap belong in the assessment.

Conference context

This was nonconference play. The result adds to the season’s evidence without changing the SAC standings. Subsequent matches will show whether the performance patterns here persist against different opposition.
