WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL · AUGUST 29, 2026 · RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS

## Executive brief

Lincoln Memorial swept Christian Brothers in Nashville, winning 25–16, 25–15 and 25–18\. LMU more than doubled its opponent’s kills, 41–20, and hit .313 to .033\. Both teams had five aces, making attacking efficiency and a 7–2 team-block advantage more useful explanations than service totals alone. [\[1\]](#source-1)

## Decisive passage

LMU recorded at least 12 kills in every set. Late in the third, a Laney Inman kill, a Jazmine Starks–Aaliyah Rodgers block and a Kaytlin Johnson kill moved the score from 21–16 to 24–16\. Christian Brothers saved two match points before Starks finished with a kill assisted by Lauren Pickett. [\[1\]](#source-1)

## Player impact

Johnson led LMU with 13 kills, Starks had ten and Georgia Dobson seven. Jana Petkovic and Pickett supplied 16 and 15 assists respectively. Lauren Jacob recorded 11 digs and two aces. Dobson, Starks and Finley Sparks each contributed three total blocks. [\[1\]](#source-1)

## Mayberry’s take

LMU’s lowest set hitting percentage was still positive at .226, which speaks to consistency across the sweep. Christian Brothers finished with more attack errors than kills in the second set and a narrow positive balance in the third. The result therefore reflects both LMU’s own production and its opponent’s difficulty sustaining offense. It supports a strong match assessment without assuming equal separation against future opponents.

## Conference context

This was nonconference play. The result adds to the season’s evidence without changing the SAC standings. Subsequent matches will show whether the performance patterns here persist against different opposition.

## Evidence scope

This analysis uses the official match statistics and rally log. It does not assign unreported tactical decisions, injuries or psychological explanations to the scoring patterns.
