City with Spirit Fall Classic — Women’s golf

Executive brief

Lincoln Memorial won The City with Spirit Fall Classic with a three-round total of 11 over par, finishing 17 strokes ahead of North Georgia. The September 14–15 tournament at Cleveland CC, Tennessee, brought together 16 teams. Lincoln Memorial led after every round and finished well clear of the other four covered schools in the field. [1] [2]

Lenoir-Rhyne placed ninth at 57 over, Carson-Newman 10th at 66 over, Wingate 11th at 74 over and Newberry tied for 12th at 81 over. Their results reveal different trajectories: Carson-Newman, Wingate and Newberry produced their lowest team scores in the final round, while Lenoir-Rhyne's best round came on day one. [1] [2]

Official results

North Georgia's runner-up total was 28 over, followed by Columbus State at 38 over. Host Lee and Lander shared fourth at 40 over. Union finished sixth at 43 over, Montevallo seventh at 48 over and Erskine eighth at 52 over. Newberry shared its 12th-place finish with USC Beaufort. [1] [2]

Lander's Sarah Reed won the individual title at 3 under with rounds of 1 over, 2 under and 2 under. Lincoln Memorial's Ruby McLellan tied for second at even par. The complete team standings and the 26 covered-school player entries appear below; IND identifies players entered outside team scoring. [1] [2]

Performance analysis

Lincoln Memorial combined team rounds of 6 over, 2 over and 3 over. Its cumulative totals were therefore 6 over, 8 over and 11 over. North Georgia matched the champion's final-round score, but its first two rounds had already left it 17 strokes behind. Lincoln Memorial's middle round provided the largest separation from the eventual runner-up. [1] [2]

Lenoir-Rhyne went 19 over, 15 over and 23 over. Its final round was four strokes higher than its opener and eight higher than its second round. The cumulative gap to Lincoln Memorial grew from 13 strokes to 26 and then 46. Ninth place still made Lenoir-Rhyne the next covered team behind the winner, but the closing round limited its finish. [1] [2]

Carson-Newman opened with two rounds of 24 over before closing at 18 over. That six-stroke improvement produced its lowest round and left it eight strokes ahead of Wingate. The Eagles finished 15 strokes ahead of Newberry and 55 behind Lincoln Memorial. Their final-round gain improved the scoring pattern without changing the large gap to the leader. [1] [2]

Wingate lowered its team score in every round: 30 over, 24 over and 20 over. The final round was 10 strokes lower than the opening round; the three-round aggregate was 74 over. Wingate finished eight behind Carson-Newman and seven ahead of Newberry. Newberry also improved late, closing at 22 over after rounds of 29 over and 30 over. Its final round was eight strokes lower than its second. [1] [2]

Individual impact

McLellan anchored Lincoln Memorial's individual results with three even-par rounds. Reese Rexroat tied seventh at 4 over, Millie Russell tied ninth at 5 over and Olivia Holyoak-Church tied 26th at 13 over. Joy Aspetaki tied 55th at 21 over but closed with a 2-under round after opening scores of 13 over and 10 over. That final round is a distinct positive within a more uneven individual tournament. [1] [2]

Lenoir-Rhyne's Jaya Wilkinson tied seventh at 4 over, including a 3-under second round, and Eve Neild tied 16th at 10 over. Kajsa Hederas finished sixth at 3 over with a 5-under middle round. Hederas was an individual entry, so her result must remain separate from the ninth-place team finish. Emily Gilmour, Charlotte Colley and Sarah Durham finished tied 50th, tied 63rd and 82nd. [1] [2]

Madison Miller led Carson-Newman in a tie for ninth at 5 over, shooting 1 over, 1 over and 3 over. Rylee Tucker tied 35th at 16 over and Emery Fisher tied 46th at 19 over. Grace Lambert finished 74th and Parker Miller 77th. Poppi Maxwell, tied 55th at 21 over, competed individually rather than contributing to the team score. [1] [2]

Gabrielle Duhalde led Wingate, tying for 12th at 7 over with rounds of 2 over, 3 over and 2 over. Ines Marty tied 35th at 16 over, Juana Milano tied 44th at 18 over and Katie Kobera tied 78th at 33 over. Four Wingate players are listed in the final results; no fifth player or explanation for the entry size is inferred. [1] [2]

Juliette Gastoud was Newberry's highest finisher, tied 38th at 17 over. She closed at 1 over after rounds of 10 over and 6 over. Natalia Aguliar tied 46th at 19 over, Anais Oelius tied 50th at 20 over, Adyson Ice tied 68th at 25 over and Chloe Tanner finished 80th at 34 over. [1] [2]

Conference context

The prior spring provides a useful, limited reference point: Lincoln Memorial finished runner-up to Wingate in the April 2026 South Atlantic Conference women's golf championship. Here, Lincoln Memorial won while Wingate finished 11th. These are different events in different seasons; the September result does not establish a new conference ranking or assume that either roster is unchanged. [3] [1] [2]

Within this tournament, the five covered programs finished in the order Lincoln Memorial, Lenoir-Rhyne, Carson-Newman, Wingate and Newberry. That is an event comparison, not a league table or a forecast of the next conference championship. [3] [1] [2]

Outlook

Lincoln Memorial's performance establishes a strong early-season benchmark across three rounds. For Carson-Newman, Wingate and Newberry, the useful question is whether their improved closing scores can become more consistent scoring across a full tournament. Lenoir-Rhyne faces a different task: matching or improving its middle-round performance when closing an event. These are qualitative priorities suggested by the scores, not predictions or explanations of their causes. [1] [2]

Round progression

Lincoln Memorial's lead over the nearest team was five strokes after the first round, 12 after the second and 17 at the finish. The identity of its closest challenger changed: North Georgia was second after round one, Lander was second at 20 over after round two, and North Georgia returned to second in the final standings. North Georgia's 25-over total after two rounds placed it behind Lander at that checkpoint. [1] [2]

Course and field context

Lee hosted the completed three-round event at Cleveland CC. No team finished under par. Thirteen teams finished at or below 81 over because Newberry and USC Beaufort shared that total. Among the 26 covered-school players retained for this report, Hederas's 5-under second round was the lowest round, and Aspetaki's 2-under finish was the lowest final round. Those comparisons do not describe every round played by all 89 entrants. [1] [2]

Methodology

This review uses the official 16-team standings and the covered-school entries from the final 89-player leaderboard. Scores are relative to par and ties are preserved. Individual-only entries remain separate from team results. The evidence supports scoring comparisons but supplies no shot-level detail, weather explanation, current rankings or future schedule. Conference history is identified explicitly as prior-season context. [1] [2]
