Matchup: Mars Hill at Lenoir-Rhyne
Kickoff: 6:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Moretz Stadium, Hickory, N.C.
Records: Mars Hill 2-0; Lenoir-Rhyne 2-1

The quick read

Mars Hill carries the cleanest defensive résumé in this matchup into a road test against No. 24 Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Lions opened with a 17-0 win at Winston-Salem State and followed with a 22-16 overtime victory over Catawba.

Three things to watch

• Whether the Lions can keep Lenoir-Rhyne behind schedule on early downs
• Mars Hill’s ability to create enough offense without exposing its defense to short fields
• Fourth-quarter stamina against a deeper home roster

What a win means

A road win over a ranked Lenoir-Rhyne team would move Mars Hill from interesting start to legitimate conference threat.

Game conditions

Forecast note: warm conditions are expected, with scattered thunderstorm risk around several kickoff windows. Any delay or wet period would increase the value of ball security, punting and conservative fourth-down judgment.
