## Player impact

Escala assisted both earlier Saint Leo goals before scoring himself. Vincent Fournier made five saves for the hosts, while Knight supplied Mars Hill’s only finish. [\[1\]](#source-1)

## Mayberry’s take

Knight’s goal changed the halftime position, but the early second-half concession quickly removed that progress from the scoreline. Mars Hill had to chase again almost as soon as the match resumed.

The late third goal then increased the deficit when little time remained. Until that point a single Mars Hill finish would have leveled the match; afterward one would only have reduced the margin.

The shooting figures show why the result should not be presented as the visitors creating nothing. Mars Hill put six attempts on target, two more than Saint Leo. Fournier’s five saves were therefore a central part of keeping the home advantage intact.

The opposite scoring returns do not, by themselves, establish the quality of the chances or an individual defensive error. They do show that finishing and saving, rather than a large total-shot gap, separated the teams. That distinction gives the review a more precise focus.

## Conference context

This nonconference trip provided Mars Hill with a test of recovering twice in the same match. The first response succeeded; the second did not. That sequence and the chances denied offer practical subjects for review before further SAC play, without turning one away defeat into a broader season verdict.
