Sept. 25 Cross Country: Selected Tryon Meet Results
Selected SAC team results from the Tryon Western NC XC Showcase: Mars Hill, Lander and Coker. Anderson is listed on the conference schedule but not in the result table.
A selected recap of three SAC programs with official results at the Tryon Western NC XC Showcase. The SAC schedule also listed Anderson, which does not appear in the published results; that participation gap remains unresolved.
In the women's 5.005-kilometer race, Lander placed eighth with 210 points and a 20:29 team average. Mars Hill finished tenth with 214 points and a 20:35 average, just four points behind Lander. Coker placed eleventh with 337 points and a 24:47 average. Mars Hill's scoring five included a compact group from 32nd through 48th, but its fifth scorer finished 65th; Lander's first scorer placed 16th, a key advantage in this close team-score comparison.
In the men's 8-kilometer race, Mars Hill was sixth (137 points, 26:57 average), Lander ninth (246, 27:53) and Coker twelfth (398, 32:09). Mars Hill's five scorers finished 17th through 36th, while Lander's were 41st through 57th. That front-five placement gap explains the main difference in this meet's team totals. Lander's sixth and seventh runners finished 58th and 59th; Mars Hill's finished 37th and 48th. Coker's first five were 73rd through 84th, followed by its sixth and seventh at 89th and 90th.
These are comparisons within one field and course. They do not establish a season-long ranking, explain individual performance, or indicate why any runner may be absent. The official meet table lists Tryon International XC Course and the race distances. Anderson is not in the published results despite the SAC calendar listing the school; we do not infer a no-show reason.
